Hi Guys,
I would like to
introduce myself. My name is Misna Santi, you can call me Misna. I was born on
September, 12th 1991. I live in Martapura and my house is near
Borneo Futsal.
Well Guys, many
of the students and even adults think that mathematics is like a big monster
who scares them away so that they do not want to learn it more deeply anymore. But
for the students, they have to face it although they do not like it. They have
to remember a bunch of formulas in their mind without any explanation why they
have to do that. It makes them to think “for
what I learn this, it is not useful in my life”.
You are wrong if
you think like that. Actually mathematics is interesting, there are so many
applications of mathematics that we can meet in our life, but unfortunately we
do not realize about it. Mathematics is not only used by mathematician, but
almost every aspect in this world is connected with mathematics. For example,
we can see it in household, medical, electrical engineering, programmer, civil engineering,
machinist, economics, accountancy, manager, and many others aspects.
If you have your
own salary or after you are married, you need Linear Program to manage your money.
In medical, Calculus is the main actor, people use it to know the volume of
cancer and its coordinate. In civil technique, trigonometry is used to count
the most accurate angle with perfect curve. Probability is very important in
economics to learn about probability in many assurance cases. Even smart
gambler also uses probability to win every gamble game. Well, there are many
more applications of mathematics that I can’t tell you all here, at least now
you know some of the mathematics applications in our life.
I was not really
good at mathematics when I was elementary, but I always tried to learn it. And when
I was in Junior school (SMPN 2 Banjarbaru), my mathematics was getting better because the teacher
was also interesting. So, the teaching methods of teacher also give effects to their
students. After I graduated from Junior school, I took science section when I was
in high school (SMAN 2 Banjarbaru) and I took mathematics again as my major at campus (STKIP PGRI Banjarmasin) to learn it
more deeply. And I have started to teach mathematics since the first semester
of my college. At that time I was asked to teach mathematics at course center
(C.O.E.L) in 2009 and my first students were 5th grader and they are
grade 11 now. In 2013, I graduated from my campus and my professor recommended
me to teach mathematics at one of Islamic High School (SMA-IT Qardhan Hasana) in Banjarbaru. Beside
that I also teach mathematics at Vocational School (SMKN 2 Banjarbaru). And I will start to teach
mathematics at Islamic Junior School (SMP-IT ANIC Banjarbaru) on this August to help them preparing for
Olympic Games.
I think that’s
enough, I hope my experiences can inspire you and mathematics does not become a
big monster anymore for you :-)
